About Dermestid
A local biohazard and trauma cleaning service, run by people who take the hardest jobs off your hands and handle them with care.
Dermestid was set up to give Rochdale and the towns around it a specialist cleaning service for the moments most companies will not touch: the aftermath of a crime, a sudden death, a serious accident or a flood. It is difficult, sometimes distressing work, and it needs doing calmly, safely and without fuss.
The people behind it have spent years in after-death & biohazard cleaning, and we started this service to bring that standard of work home to Greater Manchester. What we learned in that time is simple enough: turn up quickly, treat people gently, and do the decontamination properly so the problem does not come back.
Why the name
The dermestid beetle is used by museums and forensic laboratories to clean skeletal remains, quietly and thoroughly, down to the bone. It felt like an honest name for a service built on doing careful work out of sight. We would rather be known for the quality of the job than for a loud sign on the van, and our vehicles carry no branding at all.
