A crime scene is a biohazard long after the tape comes down. Blood and bodily fluids can carry hepatitis B, hepatitis C and other blood-borne viruses, and they soak into carpet, floorboards, grout and plaster where an ordinary clean will never reach. What crime scene cleaning involves
Once a property is released to you, we assess exactly what has been affected, which is often more than it first appears. From there we remove and dispose of contaminated material, decontaminate every surface involved and treat anything that fluids have penetrated. Where blood has reached the subfloor or run behind skirting, we lift and treat rather than clean over the top.
The work commonly includes:
- Removal of blood, tissue and other biohazard material
- Cleaning and disinfection of all affected surfaces to a safe standard
- Lifting and treating flooring, plaster or fittings that cannot be salvaged
- Odour treatment and a final check before the property is handed back
Working with the family and, where needed, the police
Most of the people who contact us are family members, landlords or letting agents, and they are usually dealing with something they never expected to. We keep the work discreet, arrive in unmarked vans and are careful about what neighbours see on a residential street. Where the police or a coroner’s officer are still involved, we coordinate around them so nothing is disturbed before it should be.
If there are belongings worth saving, we set them aside and talk to you before anything is thrown away.
Decontamination and licensed waste disposal
Everything we remove is treated as clinical waste. It is bagged, documented and taken away through a licensed clinical-waste carrier, with the paperwork to prove it left the site correctly. We work to Health and Safety Executive guidance and Environment Agency requirements for hazardous waste, and we are fully insured for this kind of work.
Many crime scene and biohazard jobs are covered by home or landlord insurance. We can give you a written report and itemised costs to support a claim, and where the insurer prefers it we can deal with them directly.

No. The police and forensic teams gather evidence, but once a property is released the cleaning and decontamination are the responsibility of the owner, landlord or family. That is the work we do.
